This position provides analytical chemistry support in the analysis of seed and oil products. Individual is expected to manage chemistry lab and work as part of a multi-discipline team of scientist in the design, development, and testing of new oil formulations and products. Expected to take part in high throughput screening, equipment maintenance, method development, and monitoring of appropriate QA measures. Will establish and execute plans in project area under limited supervision, provide timely progress updates, and effectively communicate results.

Principal Accountabilities:

35% - Manage scientific team to conduct oil and oilseed analysis to support genetic development and commercial oil product development. Oversee the development of new analytical process and investigate cutting edge techniques. Provide QC leadership over R&D activities and cross functions.
25% - Lead cross-functional project, supervise cross-multidisciplinary team, and provide project management to support and implement Specialty Canola Oils (SCO) innovation strategies and initiatives along the supply chain.
25% - Conduct analytical, sensory, and formulations to support product development and customer service. Maintenance and calibration of laboratory instrumentation to ensure products and analysis compliances with CGC/AOCS certificates. Close cooperation with seed development, product development, operation, and regulatory affairs
10% - Maintain project documentation, write and explain project reports, and collaborate with other Cargill teams to ensure project success.
5% - Manage customer sampling and documentation


Requirements

Required:

* B.S. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or Food Science

* Self driven and result oriented

* 5+ years working experience in analytical laboratory testing

* Strong oral communication with ability to write scientific reports

* Familiar with the operation and general maintenance of instrumentation such a GC, HPLC, NIR, NMR, Nitrogen Analyzer, and Mass Spec.

* 5+ years of working experience in supervising lab personnel

* Ability to travel approximately 15%

Desired:

* Experience in product development and customer support

* Demonstrated project management skills

* Working knowledge of statistics in experimental design and analysis
