DUTIES: The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has an employment opportunity for an experienced Compensation Analyst with a high level of energy, Customer focus, a strong sense of urgency, and exceptional analytical skills. The position is located in Golden (Denver West office complex), CO. This is a temporary position with an immediate start date and is anticipated to last for 3 months. The position will be focused primarily in market-pricing positions, supporting the preparation of the annual Compensation Increase Plan (CIP) and will provide other Compensation Analyst and project support functions on an ancillary basis as required.
NOTE: HR Generalists without the requisite Compensation Analyst experience will not be considered.
Job Documentation and Evaluation
Evaluate/prepare Job Analysis Questionnaires (JAQs) as part of the job evaluation process to determine the appropriate placement of positions in the Salary and Titling structure, broadband level, and FLSA status. Assist managers in the process and content of writing job analysis questionnaires when necessary.
Review JAQs for clarity and completeness; evaluate JAQs; and document results
Coordinate job evaluations
Originate and track result memos and maintain electronic and hard copy JAQ files
Annual Compensation Increase Proposal (CIP) Preparation
Market Pricing
oParticipate in review of paper and electronic salary survey benchmark results to establish recommended competitive market values and market references for NREL jobs.
oParticipate in data management, manipulation, and maintenance in our web-based market pricing system.
oParticipate in small team meetings with NREL Compensation team members to calibrate benchmark analyses.
Produce supporting documentation, printing and distribution schedule for the CIP in preparation of and after DOE approval.

Requirements |
Compensation Project Management Support Duties will vary. Temporary Compensation Analyst will be expected to support various Compensation projects during this time, e.g., performance and merit review and other NREL change management issues related to total rewards.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field or equivalent experience. While an additional 5 years compensation experience is required, the ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 to 3 years experiences as a Compensation Analyst with 2 to 3 years HRIS experience and hands-on Access experience. In-depth understanding of all the Fair labor Standards Act (FLSA) and other applicable employment laws. Broad understanding of Human Resources theory and practice desired. Expert MS Excel and Word skills required. Must be detail oriented with excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Must perform at a high level in a fast-paced, professional environment. Must have a strong Customer focus, operate effectively as a team member, and be flexible. Must be willing to work flexible, and sometimes long hours, to meet tight deadlines and project requirements.
PREFERRED: CCP designation strongly preferred, as well as experience with Oracle HR systems. 3 years HRIS systems and MS Access hands-on experience desired. Broad understanding of Human Resources theory and practice.
